Blood status: Half-blood. Tobias Snape was one of three children, 2 boys and a girl, and the only one to survive to his majority. Severus is an only child. Schooling: Hogwarts 1971-1978- Slytherin House Occupation: Potions Brewer at Slugs and Jiggers Current residence: London flat; he actually lives muggle London, in a very ethnically diverse portion of the city Description: Snape has stringy black hair that never appears to be clean. For most of his life he wore his hair very long. It grows slowly as a result of the constant potions fumes (the same reason it's always greasy). After he left Azkaban he shaved his head. His hair is slowly growing back out. His eyes are a very, very dark brown that appear to be black upon anything but the closest examination. So, he has black eyes, because no one is getting close enough to see differently. He is very thin; he eats like a horse but has never managed to gain weight. Snape's clothes are always black- black clothes hide stains best, and the idea of matching doesn't even have to be considered. He has, since his school days and more specifically since he left Azkaban, however, learned to wear trousers and a shirt beneath the robes. Not out of fear of being turned upside down, but for ease of changing when he leaves Diagon Alley. That doesn't mean the trousers and button down he wears, aren't black. Because they so are. Wand: Oak, 8 inches, supple, dragon heartstring Patronus: Doe Boggart: Remus Lupin Special Magical Abilities: Legilimency/Occulumency; he can also write/invent spells and potions instead of just using them if that counts. Role in the war: In the first war, Snape was a Death Eater until he discovered the prophecy he overheard was about Harry; from then on he was a spy against Voldemort for Dumbledore. After Voldemort's reserection, he spied on the Dark Lord for the Order of the Phoenix. At Dumbledore's request he entered an agreement with the Headmaster to kill him before anyone else (Draco) could. Since he made an unbreakable vow with Narcissa Malfoy to do it anyway, he could not escape. They made plans for following Dumbledore's death, for things Snape was to accomplish as a death eater but, even in the man's death, still loyal to Dumbledore. Things did not work out as they had anticipated. History (emphasis on the period since 1997): Severus Snape was the only child of Eileen Prince, a pureblood witch, and Tobias Snape, a muggle factory worker. Tobias was a drunk and a violent one. Severus was out of the house as often as he could be as a child, haunting local playgrounds as the only appropriate places for a child his age, but generally staying away from the other children. When he was 10 he met a girl who was using magic. Lily Evans was his age, a muggle born witch who didn't know what she was. They went to school together, and Lily was the one he went to when he found out that his father had killed his mother in a drunk rage the Christmas of their third year. He spent that Christmas with the Evans and subsquent holidays at school or at the houses of various housemates. He fell out with Lily when they were 15 but remained deeply, painfully, posessively in love wth her. This did not help his on-going battle with James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. They were all savage on each other, but they had allies: Severus didn't. He always came off the worse in any fight. He joined the Death Eaters when he left school after spending breaks from school for the previous year and half becoming very familiar with various Death Eaters and even brewing potions the previous summer for them. He overheard the prophecy of the one who would destroy Voldemort and ran right to the man himself, telling all he had heard and ingratiating himself with the Dark Lord. It was only after he found out that it was about Lily, about Lily's son that he went to Dumbledore and confessed all, becoming a spy. After Voldemort's fall, Severus became Potions professor at Hogwarts upon Dumbledore's oath that Severus was loyal. Severus was fiercely protective of his students: no one else would ever be. After Voldemort's reserection, he spied on the Dark Lord for the Order of the Phoenix. At Dumbledore's request he entered an agreement with the Headmaster to kill him before anyone else (Draco) could. Since he made an unbreakable vow with Narcissa Malfoy to do it anyway, he could not escape. Things did not work out as they had anticipated, and many of their plans never got off the ground. Severus was captured after the battle of Godric's Hollow and sentenced to Azkaban. He did not bother to confess his loyalty to Dumbledore, to the oaths he made. He had no proof and so would only be called a coward and a liar on top of traitor. Snape had never taken well to being called a coward. He went into Azkaban and came out silently. He accepted his probation, and mouthed all the acceptable words of rehabilition when he'd never needed rehabilition in the first place. He took a flat in an ethnically diverse portion of muggle London. In the chaos of a heavily immigrant populated area one more oddity would not be noticed. He takes the tube to and from Diagon Alley, or walks. He lives quietly, for the most part. He works as a potions brewer at Slugs and Jiggers. He does not wait on customers, because that would just be a disasterous idea from start to finish. But he's talented and that makes up for his complete lack of anything resembling people skills. The first full moon after his release he sent a potion vial of Wolfsbane to Remus with a note saying, simply, If I were going to poison you, I'd be a lot more subtle. I'm working on the taste.. He's brewed one every moon since, sending it without a note. The only exception one month during last summer; he spent the summer as a tutor in DADA to the younger Pucey children, Charles and Ellie. Remus was there and came directly for the potion. They didn't discuss it. Snape likes teaching. Not teaching in a school, where people are required to learn even if they hate a subject, but teaching someone who wants to learn something. He enjoys the idea of giving someone a skill, something they can use, and having them struggle and achieve. He liked teaching the Pucey kids. That doesn't mean he didn't terrify them or his lessons were hard or he didn't snap at them. That's just his teaching methods. He returned to his flat and his job in the fall. He lives a quiet life. But he's finally reconnecting the pieces of himself in his head: teaching over the summer really snapped something into place for him.
